Choose LIFE!

This past Sunday, our family participated in the National Life Chain. This event takes place in hundreds of cities across America, where Christians gather on a busy street in their town and peacefully hold signs that challenge the passersby to consider life. It is a time for us to pray for an hour as we hold our sign and beg the Lord to bring an end to abortion in our nation. We participated in Killeen, where Tony's parents coordinated the chain.

I remember going to a few pro-life rallies as a child/teenager. I remember my dad talking to me about why he and my mom voted Republican. There were many reasons, but chief among them was that the Republican party has a pro-life platform. When I went to college, I was involved in Life Chain. Blane's went to his first Life Chain was when he was 8 months old. Our niece, Emily, went to her first Life Chain at 3 weeks old! It was very special this year knowing that my mom was also participating at the very same time in another town. We are so blessed to have parents and family that are not only in favor of life, but are active participants in the battle to end infanticide in America.

NEAT STORY:
Our family (Tony's parents, Tony, myself and kiddos) went to a busy corner on the designated street (W.S. Young, for you who know Killeen). We were at the bottom of the hill, at the intersection of W.S. Young and Hwy 190. WE WERE THE ONLY ONES THERE! Needless to say, it felt alone and discouraging. Tony and I felt a little in despair about how alone it felt to hold our signs with passersby thinking we were crazy. At the end of the hour. Tony's mom had to go by the sign-in area at the end of the event and help wrap things up. As she topped the hill, there were participants everywhere! So, just over the hill from where we were, there were LOTS of people participating- we just couldn't see them.

I could not escape the parallel this drew to the life of a Christian in seeking to make a difference for the Lord. Often, we feel alone, weird, isolated, crazy, etc.--- what we don't realize is that there are LOTS more doing what we're doing-- we just can't see them where we're at. How encouraging!

Blane was such a trooper!
